Program Note:
Silence, packed crowds, music, silence, money, Sichuan, Shanxi, Chongqing, part-time job, values, the nation, life and death, children, quality, regions, coal mines, age¡all but a few things the director witnessed and captured on film on the train between Taiyuan and Chongqing.
Director:
I feel that silence that we all endure and take for granted. Silence and time are intertwined, dominate each other, and slowly die out.
We have been aware of problems for a long time, and we learned to be silent. But simple actions have the power to move people.
It used to be that if we didn¡¯t explode in silence, then we would die in it; now we explode and die in it, or perhaps we merely die in it.
Our souls are buried in silence.
